Mumbai: Rapido, a bike taxi start-up, has announced the launch of a two-wheeler taxi service in Mumbai. This service will allow users to book bike taxis for the daily commute.

Rapido claims that the rate per kilometer will be Rs 6 and this new venture will become the most affordable mode of transport for the city. Additionally, users can get up to 50% off on the first ride.

“Pandemic gave us a chance. About 8 million passengers commute daily in Mumbai by alternative means of transportation. As the city recovers from the catastrophe, people need an affordable and safe daily commute. We believe Rapido's innovative and successful venture can address that need, ”said Rapido co-founder Arvind Sanka.

"We also plan to provide job opportunities for the youth of Mumbai. Over the next two years, we aim to recruit 2 lakh captains for Rapido's bike taxi platform. This app will provide people with several features, including the ability for users to track and share their rides live with their loved ones, just like any other application." Arvind added.

A company spokesman said the bike would follow safety guidelines for taxi rides, such as safety back shields, Compulsary masks, and Helmets for all captains and passengers.

To avail of the two-wheeler taxi service, users need to download the app through their phones from google play or iTunes, log in to their account, and book a Rapido Ride.
