Mumbai: (18.12.2020) The Maharashtra government has given permission for outdoor sports training in the state such as cricket, football, and tennis.

The central government had banned sports training and competitions since March as part of a nationwide lockdown following the epidemic. The government's announcement was a great relief to thousands of national and international athletes who have not been able to train for the past nine months. Several sports organizations from different parts of the country had approached the government seeking permission to resume sports training. Permission to hold sports competitions in the state is also likely to be granted soon.

The Mumbai Cricket Association has started preparations to host the Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Cricket Tournament. The state government has asked all federations and associations to strictly adhere to the government’s Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
